What is The Private Examinations Board?
The Private Examinations Board (PEB) was founded out of a need for a Homeschool Assessment Test Facility for homeschoolers country-wide, particularly where parents wanted to gain some idea of where their children fared in terms of national norms.
The founder is Jacqui Baumgardt (B.A.; M. Ed.; Diploma in Distance Education). She has many years’ teaching experience and has been involved in education since 1972.
PEB was recently taken over by Debby Engelbrecht (BA (Psy) FDE MBD CESA Pta).
Debby is a remedial therapist and also has some years of classroom teaching experience. If you would like more information about Debby take a moment or two and get to know her at About Us.
PEB began its work about nine years ago and since then has successfully run assessments for a number of homeschoolers using the various curricula.
Now with the promulgation of the National Homeschool Policy, the need for such an assessment facility has become imperative, since homeschoolers are encouraged to be academically assessed at the end of the first year of home schooling, and then at the end of Grades 3, 6 and 9 (i.e. at the end of each phase of the child’s schooling until the compulsory education phase has been completed.) Beyond Grade 9, parents may choose whether to continue educating their children or not.
Take a look at all the advantages listed of having your child assessed.
The Private Examinations Board is currently not registered with any Government Departments.
All our attempts to register with various Governmental Bodies were declined because we do not offer a School Leaver's Certificate.
However, we have not lost hope and we have made some inquiries and await a return of communication.
If you have any questions or would like any more information regarding assessments and tests please do not hesitate to Contact Us.
